Whether it is for participation or just for enjoying the spectacle, events can attract visitors to a destination.   The Borders has a growing programme of events and it is worth highlighting what is relevant to your area on your website to encourage visitors stay a little longer.

The Borders hosted a stage of the Tour of Britain  in 2009 and again  in September 2010 which provided a great opportunity to raise awareness of the cycling in the area.

Look out for local sportive events throughout the year and remember to contact your local cycling club for more information on what is on in the area.  These events include the Tour of Tweeddale in September and the Ken Laidlaw Sportive in August.

Other events can be found on Cycle Scottish Borders and if you have a cycling event you wish to add to the site, please contact the Scottish Borders Recreational Cycling Project Manager Neen Kelly.
